Title of Story: "Denying Your Feelings: Too Late to Change Ch. 1"

Resa had just came back from a long day's work. She put her briefcase on the sofa, got a glass of Merlot and lounged in her comfortable chair. "What a long, bad day this has been. First, my assistant Sergio forgot to bring the designs to an important meeting, which caused us to be late. Then, this bitch almost caused me to have an accident. These Italians cannot drive worth crap. I could have just choked her. What now!" she thought. She decided to turn on the stereo to listen to music to calm her nerves. "But, Resa, this wasn't the worst day of your life. You should enjoy it. Hey, you got the lifestyle that you always wanted without a man even without Ethan." Then she thought about that night Ethan and Resa had that talk before she left Harmony.
*Flashback*
"Resa, I only love you as a friend. In fact, I am going to marry Gwen", said Ethan.
Resa can feel her eyes begin to water. She felt her heart fall into millions of pieces.
"Resa, you are a sweet, beautiful girl. You will one day make a beautiful wife for another man," explained Ethan.
"But Ethan, I really love you. I don't want anyone else but you. I will never find anyone that I will love as much as I love you. You and I are meant to be. It's fate. Don't you get it? I want to be your wife. I want to spend the rest of my life with you," Resa begged. She couldn't believe he did not accept her love for him.
"Resa, you only think you love me, but you don't. It is just a crush because of that kiss a few nights ago. You confused me with Chuck that night." Ethan said with confidence.
"No, Ethan. I did not confuse you for Chuck," she said. There was a long pause. Ethan was standing there dumbfounded.
"Ethan obviously, you really don't understand me, do you? You think I'm still in love with Chuck. Ethan, you are so naive. If you are not getting it now then you will never get it. Why would I waste my time with a fool like you. Ethan, forget about the whole thing.
Her face was streaming with tears down her face. She fell to the ground crying her heart out as Ethan left. "I have to leave this place and avoid Ethan. I can't stand to see Ethan marry Gwen. I will resign my position as Ivy's assistant. She thought.
*End of Flashback*
The thought of that night gave Resa the chills. She wanted to leave that bad memory behind her. For awhile in college she could not get her mind off of Ethan. She has always loved Ethan and always will. But he hurt her so much, that she could not eat, or sleep. She found herself not being motivated to live which wasn't like her. Then one day, she found a friend in college that understood her and brought her spirits back. It was Austin. Austin was only a friend because he was gay. Austin had somewhat a similar experience as Resa had. Austin gave her great advice unlike her mother or Whitney. May God bless them! She loves and cares about them but they did not understand her either. Resa smiled at the thought of Austin, Whitney, and her mama. She wondered how they were. She hasn't had contact with them for a year. She got up from the chair and looked at her address book and began calling mama, Whitney, and Austin.
Telephone ringing.
"Hello," the other male voice answered.
"Hello. May I speak to Austin please?" Resa asked.
"This is Austin speaking," Austin answered.
"Hey Austin, what's up? Long time no see!" Resa said smiling to herself.
"Hey who is this? Is this who I think it is? Resa?" Austin asked.
"Yep! This is Resa. What's going on? How have you been? Resa said excitedly.
"Oh my Gosh, Resa! I can't believe it's you! I'm fine now that I am talking to you. A lot has came up. I don't know where to start. Where are you now? What are you doing? Gosh we have to catch up," He said with a happy tone.
"I live in Milan, Italy. I have my own designing label and my own studio apartment. I know. We have to catch up on the old times." Resa responded.
"I am glad to hear from you. I'm also glad that you are happy. You deserve much success." Austin complimented her.
"Thank you Austin. You are so sweet. I am so lucky to have a best friend like you. I can always confide in you because you are so understanding," she said warmly.
"Your welcome Resa. You are a great friend too," Austin replied. "So, Resa, how's life beyond your career?"
"What do you mean? What, my love life? I don't know Austin. I have been so busy setting up my label and my business that I did have time to date anyone. The only other guy I know is my assistant Sergio." Resa said.
"Sergio. Is he gay? Maybe you could hook me up with him." He said laughing.
"No Austin. He is not gay. He will be mad at me for trying to hook him up with you." She said laughing along with Austin. He could always make her laugh. No one else could make her laugh other than Ethan.
"That's okay Austin. In fact, I was so busy that I did not think about him until tonight before I called you. Then I thought about you. But, I still love him and I can't be with him. Not the way he had hurt me. I am a strong woman. I can handle it." Resa explained.
"For some odd reason, I don't think you are over him yet. It has been ten years ago since you left Harmony and two years since left New York. Have you visited Harmony at all?" Austin asked.
"No." Resa said. Her excitement and enthusiasm left when he started this conversation about her past with Ethan.
"In order to prove to me and to yourself that you are over with Ethan, go to Harmony to visit your friends and family and then come to New York and visit me. Take a vacation. You sure need one from what you are telling me. Go and face Ethan. Get some closure. Take my advice" He said. He read her like a book.
"Thanks Austin for your advice. But I will think about it. Even though it would be nice to see my family, you, and Whitney again." Resa said.
"Okay, Resa. Have it your way, but think about it for me. I will talk to you later. Call me to tell me if your are coming." He said.
"Okay, good night." She replied.
"Good night Resa." Austin said as hung up the phone.
Theresa sat on the couch and thought about what Austin has suggested to her. She thought that he always gave great advice to her that took it and decided to pack and leave for a vacation.
A brief description: The story takes place 10 years after Resa left town to go to college in New York City. Resa is a successful fashion designer with her own line. She lives in Milan, Italy. This is how I want the story line go. It does not contain any spoilers.
"But Resa----" Ethan began to talk. "No Ethan! Just leave me alone. I never want to speak to or see you ever again. Just get out of my house!" Resa said pointing the front door. "But can we be friends?" Ethan asked. "No Ethan! Good bye," Resa ordered.
"So, are you over with that jerk, Ethan Crane? Or do you still think about him?" he asked regretting what he asked. What an idiot. He thought. "I'm sorry. I should never have brought it up."
