Resa was anxious and excited at the same time. She wasn't sure how her family was going to react when they see her after ten years. I am all grown up. Hmmm, I wonder what Luis or mama will say when I pop in and surprise them. Will they be home to see me? I hope so. She thought to herself. She knows they miss her a lot because her mama always had asked her to come home. Her mama always had said, "Luis and Miguel sends you their love." "Well, I'm here. Here goes nothing." She sighed while turning off the ignition. She got out of the car and got her bags out of the trunk. She walked up to the door nervously and rang the doorbell.
Ding-Dong
She waited there nervously. She wasn't sure if they were home, so she rang the doorbell again.
Ding-Dong. She heard someone coming at the door.
"Who is it?" a male voice asked. She recognized his voice. It was Miguel. She thought.
"It's me, Theresa." She replied with a smile. Miguel had opened the door. He was so shocked to see her.
"Theresa! I can't believe it's you! Oh my Gosh! How are you?" He asked still in shock.
"Well, it's me. I'm fine. Well, look how you've grown!" She said nervously as she gave him a hug.
He hugged her back. "Theresa, I'm so glad to see you! I miss you so much." He stated excitedly.
"Oh, Miguel, I missed you too! It's good to see you too!" she said still hugging him. "Well how are you and Charity doing?" She asked. Miguel's face turned from a happy face to a sad one.
"Not to well. You see, Charity became really crazy. She was really loosing her mind to the point of almost trying to kill me and hurting others. Some thought she and Tabitha were teaming up to go to the dark side. Whatever that means. They believed they were witches. She is living in a mental hospital in Augusta." He said sadly.
"I'm sorry to hear that. Her family must be devastated. She was really a nice girl. You must me devastated, too." She stated with concern.
"Well, I'm going to get over it, but it's going to take a long time. Well, anyway, Kay has been by my side and I appreciate that. She has been a great friend." He stated.
"Well, that is one of the reasons I came here for to see if I did, honestly. I'm not sure if I did. I have been busy with my business and all that I didn't have time to think about him and me. At first, I wasn't over him at all. But then, when time past on and I met a friend in college, Ethan was not an issue anymore." She explained.
"You mean you have met someone else?" Miguel asked getting his hopes up.
"No. That's not what I said. He is gay. He is just a friend. She paused while looking a Miguel with those sad eyes and took a deep breath. I met Austin in my art class during freshman year. He helped me get through with this ordeal. He actually came up to me after class and asked if he could be a listening ear since he could see it written all over my face that I was sad and out of it. I told him everything. I felt that he could understand my pain. I felt I could tell him everything. I don't know why but he is like my guardian angel. He knew how I felt because he went through the same thing. And till this day, I have been grateful for him to be my best friend away from home. He did not judge me nor tell what to do. He just listened to me. He gives advice that will help me make my own decisions." She explained. "Miguel I was really depressed and confused. I was not motivated at all. I couldn't eat or sleep. I couldn't even concentrate at school. My heart was broken. I really loved Ethan."
Miguel looked at his sister. He felt sorry for her. He knew how she felt, too. He, too, was in love. But he didn't think she was really that serious. He regretted for not being there for her. He was glad that her friend had been there for her. "I don't know what to say. I'm sorry." He apologized.
"You don't have to be sorry. It wasn't your fault. It wasn't anyone's fault." She said feeling her tears welling up. "Let's get off this subject. It's too depressing."
"Where's mama and Luis? I wanna see them." She asked while getting herself situated.
"Mama is working at the Cranes and Luis lives with Sheridan." Miguel replied.
"That's right. Luis and Sheridan are married now." She remembered.
"Well, Theresa, you must be tired from your trip. I will get your bags and take them to your old room." He said while grabbing her luggage.
"Okay. Thanks for being here." She said looking up at Miguel.
Miguel went into Theresa's old room to put her luggage there. In the living room, Resa saw pictures of them mounted on the table and fireplace. "Oh how I miss them and this place. I have to see mama, Luis, and Sheridan." She said to herself. Miguel came to the living room towards the kitchen.
"Hey, Theresa, would you like something to drink? We have Kool-Aid, water, milk, and soda." Miguel asked while going into the kitchen.
"Yes, please. I will take a glass of Kool-Aid. Thank you, Miguel." She replied.
Miguel came out with two glasses of Kool-Aid and handed one to Resa. Resa took a couple of gulps. She didn't realize how thirsty she was until she drank about half of it.
"Wow you must be thirsty!" Miguel commented.
"I guess so. It has been a long day." She replied agreeing with him.
"So, how is your business doing? Where are you living at now? He asked curiously.
"Well, I have my own designing label. In fact, I am working on some new designs this year to participate in a big fashion show in Milan, Italy, where all of the celebrities and big name designers go to. So, look me up in the papers. Also, I live in Milan, Italy in my studio apartment." She explained with excitement.
"Oh, wow, Theresa! I am so proud of you! I can't believe my big sister is up with the pros! Wow! Can I visit you sometime?" he said excitedly like a kid in a candy store hugging her.
"Sure, in fact I will pay for your plane ticket. When would you like to visit?" she asked.
"I would like to see you on the day of the fashion show to give you some support. Wow thanks sis!" Miguel said with excitement.
After talking with Miguel, Resa went to see Luis at his house. Resa remembered talking to Luis and Sheridan on the phone last year. She remembered him saying that him and Sheridan had gotten married and had a child. She was so proud of Luis that he found love. She was happy for Luis because he was happy. She admired Luis very much since he was strong-willed and loyal to his family, even though he can be stubborn at times.
For a long time, Luis did not know why Resa left and never came back until the day he found out Theresa have been working for the Cranes and she had lied to him. He was furious at first then mama and Sheridan had explained everything to him. But he didn't like the fact that Resa still had feelings for Ethan. He was damn well for sure, he didn't like the way Ethan was hurting his little sister. Well, I wonder how Sheridan and Luis will react when they see me. I hope Ethan is not there. I can't see Ethan now. She thought to herself as she went to the front door of Luis and Sheridan's humble home.
Recap: Resa made airline reservations to see her family in two days. She went to work next morning and told Sergio about her plans. Ethan was thinking about Theresa and Gwen. He was more confused, angry, and depressed.
Setting: This takes place two days after. Resa has already arrived in Harmony and had rented a car. She is on her way to Pilar's house.
"Well, how about you? You haven't changed much in appearance wise. Are you completely over with Ethan, if you don't mind me asking?"
