It all began at the carnival in Harmony. A girl was standing a little too close to a ladder that had paint on top of it. This girl was Theresa Lopez-Fitzgerald, she was reading a magazine and was engrossed in it. Along walks a guy, who is just being introduced into the town of Harmony after being gone for so long. This guy is Ethan Crane, he goes to stand near the ladder. Theresa by accident nudges the ladder and the paint spills on the rich Ethan Crane. He is covered in this paint and is unrecognizable. Theresa goes over to this mystery guy and asks if he is okay. Ethan is very mad and grabs Theresa by her arm, ruining her sweater. Theresa gets mad at this mystery man and runs off. Her and Whitney Russell goes to the gypsy's tent. Tabitha Lenox, dressed as an old gypsy tells Theresa that she sees her signing a piece of paper. She is signing it Mrs. E.C. or Ethan Crane. Theresa's spirits soar and she is now jolted back to reality, when Luis insists that Theresa must get a job. Luis gets her a job at the Burger Hut. Theresa starts there and on her first day, who shows up, but Ethan Crane. This time Theresa recognizes him and she gets all nervous. She spills milkshakes on him and instead of throwing water on him to get the stain out, she throws BBQ sauce. But little did she know that when she left the kitchen, she left a dish rag a little to close to the stove and therefore it catches on fire. She burns the Burger Hut down. Luis then gets Theresa a job at the Crane Cannery. One night, Ethan and Gwen go in and inspect the place, per Julian. Theresa then spills fish guts on Ethan and the foreman fires her. At this point Ethan is convinced that he has a stalker. He has Frank Lomax a private investigator to find this "stalker." Theresa then gets offered a job working for the glamorous Ivy Crane as her personal assistant. Theresa has to wear a disguise to hide from Ethan, but Frank is hot on her track. Weeks go by and Ethan and the disguised plain Jane Theresa become good friends. She has a lot of close calls and is almost discovered. But one night she is on the Crane property and the dogs get unleashed. Ethan then closes the gates and looks for the stalker. He discovers a fashionable Theresa on his property. And identifies her as his stalker. But out of respect for Pilar, he does not rat her out and Theresa explains how all of the incidents were just accidents, not her stalking him. Ethan excepts her answer and the two become almost best friends.

After the stalking incidents, many things happen. Gwen becomes very insecure and jealous of the friendship between Ethan and Theresa. Gwen begins to speculate that Theresa likes Ethan and is possibly in love with him. She begins tormenting Theresa asking her 20 questions about her personal life. New Year's Eve at the Seascape when "Martin" falls threw the ceiling, we see how jealous Gwen actually is of Theresa. When Martin falls through the skylight, Ethan is there to comfort and hold Theresa. Gwen becomes so jealous because she heard in this magazine, whoever you are holding on New Year's Eve will be the person you will spend the rest of your year or life with. Ethan catches a collapsing Theresa in the Seascape parking lot when she passes out with grief. Gwen storms off when she sees this, having one of her usual tantrums. Ethan drives Theresa home, and goes into her room. But luckily somehow Ethan does not see the pictures of him all over her room. Gwen continues with her accusations, until that fateful night at the Seascape, when we meet Chuck. Whitney had spotted on the street, and since he owed her a favor, had him pose as Theresa's boyfriend. He did a good job because it convinced Gwen that he was Theresa's boyfriend and so far she has backed down. Ethan then takes Theresa to a ring shop to find an engagement ring for Gwen. She tries one on, but it does not come off. Theresa is convinced that this is fate and she is meant to be with Ethan. Theresa wears the ring everywhere until it comes off. Gwen notices the ring on Theresa's finger and Theresa tells Gwen that Chuck has proposed to her, but she cannot show the ring and must keep the engagement a secret because she has not told her family yet. One night she and the rest of the town are skating when Miguel falls threw the ice. Theresa promises God that if her brother lives, she will no longer try to break up Ethan and Gwen. And she will not get Ethan unless he pursues her. Theresa rescues Miguel, but begins to doubt that she will keep the promise made to God. Miguel gives her a lecture on keeping the promise, and she is trying to keep it. Then one day the ring falls off in the morning and her mother tells Theresa to give it to Ethan, so he may propose to Gwen. Theresa then heads over to the Crane mansion to a fighting Gwen and Ethan. Gwen thinks that he does not love her because he is not giving her the ring. Theresa witnesses all this and tries one last time to get the ring off, and what a shock, it comes off. All Theresa's hopes and dreams crash as she and Ivy witness Ethan proposing to Gwen outside of the Crane mansion. Gwen asks Theresa to help her with the wedding arrangements and a heartbroken Theresa agrees. One night Theresa and Whitney are looking through her wedding portfolio that she has made for her and Ethan's wedding. She decides to let her dreams wash away in the ocean. But little does Theresa know that Gwen and Ethan are at the wharf and take the portfolio from Theresa thinking it is to help them plan their wedding. The next day Theresa realizes that she must get to the Crane mansion to get the drawing with her and Ethan's name out of the portfolio. She then throws the paper in the fire and her dreams go up in smoke. Gwen then tells Theresa she has a surprise for her and opens a box with Theresa's actual bridal bouquet out there in real life. Theresa then has a day dream of her holding the bouquet at her and Ethan's wedding and their taking pictures in the Crane living room. That night at the Book Cafe, Theresa is trying to get her mind off of Ethan Crane and on her future career in fashion designing. Ethan then walks in and Gwen asks Chad to play one of the songs Theresa suggested for the wedding. Theresa hears it and dreams that it is her and Ethan dancing at their wedding. She then grabs on to the real Ethan and pulls him in to dance with her. Ethan looks perplexed but dances willing with Theresa until he snaps back to reality. Ethan asks why Theresa did that and Whitney covers for her saying Theresa wanted to see if the music would be perfect to dance to. Gwen then gets a phone call and needs to be in New York for the next couple of weeks. She asks Theresa to plan her wedding and watch out for Ethan, that no one takes him away! Well, well, well, the woman that may steal Ethan's heart away from Gwen is Theresa. The next few weeks are going to show us if these two people can really become a couple or nothing more then friends. There has been little history here, but I have a feeling there are much more twists and turns ahead for the future couple, Ethan and Theresa!
