"The History"
Kay and Miguel have a long history as friends. They played on the same baseball team for years, and Kay has always been Miguel's closest friend. But about a year ago, Kay realized that here feelings for Miguel went much deeper than friendship--she was in love with him. She made plans to confess her love to Miguel and become his girlfriend. But it was not to be. Enter Charity Standish, a stranger from out of town that Miguel met at the Harmony Carnival. He supposedly "fell in love" with Charity the second they met...but Kay knew better. Kay recognized Charity right away as a blonde tramp that definitely didn't deserve Miguel. It turned out that Charity was actually Kay's cousin and when her house and mother were lost in a fire, Charity came to live with the Bennetts, taking over Kay's room, her love, and her family.

Kay has tried many things to get Miguel and Charity apart. For example, when Kay and Miguel went up to the ski lodge for a trip, Kay persuaded Charity to stay home because of her premonitions. And for a while, Charity was even placed in the psychiatric ward of the hospital. Kay's major plan lately has been to drive Charity crazy at the prom by dumping fish guts on her.

So ever since Miguel and Charity met, Kay has been trying to make Miguel see how wrong his relationship with Charity is, and how much he and Kay are meant for each other. On the outside, Kay only wants what is best for her dear cousin Charity, but she is secretly always trying to break up Charity and Miguel. The only people who know the truth about her intentions are Simone, her best friend, and Jessica, her suspicious younger sister. They constantly scold her for trying to break up Miguel and Charity, but what no one seems to understand is that this girl would do anything for the man she loves. And that's something that not many people can claim. Kay is really admirable for her constant perseverance...she knows that she is meant to be with Miguel.

Some people may claim that Kay and Miguel will never be together because Charity and Miguel have an unbreakable love. There are too many signs, though, that show that Kay and Miguel will be together forever. Who was in Miguel's arms on New Year's Eve? Kay...and that is supposed to be a sign that she and Miguel will be together. And then there was the time that Miguel almost died in the avalanche...Kay was there, showing more emotion than anyone over her love for Miguel. And wasn't it her words of love that helped to bring Miguel back? Miguel is always showing affection to Kay that he doesn't show anyone else. And finally, it's just too obvious that Charity and Miguel are doomed as lovers. How many times has Charity tried to kill Miguel? How many times has Miguel gotten in trouble for being with Charity? He almost died when he tried to save her on Valentine's Day, and she was going to kill him when she got out of the psychiatric ward! Being with Charity is just plain dangerous for Miguel. And it is only a matter of time before he realizes that Kay Bennett is the only woman for him.
